3. Measure in millimetres.

You can measure a diameter using the edge of a flat surface, but a ruler is not the most precise. Use a pair of digital callipers if you have access to one.

3. Measure Your Finger at Home

If you do not have a ring sizer or a ring to measure, you can take an approximate measurement of your finger at home.

A flexible measuring tape is preferable because it can follow the shape of your finger without stretching.

Gently wrap the measuring tape around the base of the finger where the ring will sit, and note the circumference in millimetres. Then compare this measurement with an appropriate ring size chart.

Some guides suggest using paper or other non-stretch material to approximate a flexible measuring tape if you don't have one. This method allows for some measurement, but it has its faults. You should absolutely never use string or paper for measurement. They can, and likely will, stretch. They also don't account for the space needed to go over the knuckle.
